Community solar is a way to support solar energy and save on power bills without installing solar panels. Instead, residents join a local solar farm.
Community solar allows for equal access to the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy generation regardless of the physical attributes or ownership of an individual’s home or business. In other words, if you can’t install solar directly on your property, community solar can be a good option for accessing the savings and other benefits solar provides.
Residents subscribe to a portion of the total energy that the farm produces. The portion is based on how much energy they use in a typical month.
The clean solar energy from the solar panels flows directly into the local power supply. As the solar farm generates electricity, subscribers earn credits on their monthly bills. CJ Grant directs part of the total bill to the solar farm.
With community solar, anyone with a power bill can go green.
